I am Avijit,
a computer programming developer and theoretical scientist. I am currently working as an Assistant Professor of Physics, Syamaprasad College, CU.

From the eve of new Year, 2020, I have started my academic career as an Assistant Professor of Physics in Syamaprasad College under Calcutta University. Previously, I have had a working experience as a post doctoral fellow in SN Bose National Center for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS) for a short stint and before that at Max-Planck Instistute for Kohlenforschung, Germany for almost three years. My research experience is along theoretical method developments in electronic structure theory. I have achieved greater understanding in molecular physics, theoretical & computational spectroscopy, molecular modelling etc. I also love to play around different computer language platforms and small fun tricks.

What I am good at.

Method development and programming.

I have acquired greater experience in formulating many body theories for calculating energies and properties of various ground and excited state systems of pronounced multi-reference character. My PhD work involves developing a perturbative method based on Unitary Group Adapted Multi-reference Coupled Cluster (UGA-MRCC) theory which is also called as UGA-SSMRPT2. I have previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the ORCA developers team and I have been engaged in developing a highly efficient open-shell ionization-potential formulation, IPROCI, targetting X-ray photoionization spectroscopy.

Computer skills.

I'm a developer and I have worked in various cross-platform language environments. Outside academic interests, I have a great knack for learning interesting web tricks from the internet.
